In addition to being BOOKTOBERFEST! October is also a hotbed month for agent pitch contests. In these contests, often hosted on the blogs of various writers, you have the chance to get up close and personal with an agent. Many times the agents have the ability to request a full or partial manuscript thus bypassing the querying stage.
